My works involve the psychological experience of recognizing freedom and the stages we undergo to achieve that uninhibited state of comfort and ease with one's self. My art links the relationship between long held traditions and contemporary freedoms. I symbolize seeking balance between the two with combining objects or notions of nostalgia posed with nudes/body parts in a position of empowerment and whimsy. I use unconventional scale and proportion to extract the viewer from a known reality, by heightening the humorous effect, we underscore the uncomfortable learned prescribed ideals of proper.
A former fashion designer for Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry, DKNY, and BCBG, I took a leap of faith in September 2009 to become a full time artist. By listening to my gut and following my heart, I am overriding my fears. Enjoy my journey.
